Erica has a strong progressive record. She championed several motions vital to increasing Ottawa’s status as an equitable city-- that is inclusive of all communities-- where our younger generation can thrive. Erica pushed back on budget cuts, fought for reinvestment in Special Education needs, and raised awareness on the inequity of our education system funding formula. Her active committee involvement makes her a powerful voice for each and every one of our children.

Some of the motions moved or supported by Erica include:

  • Creation of an Ad Hoc Committee on Advocacy to develop key messaging that all trustees would bring to city councillors and MPPs

  • Support of Ottawa as a Sanctuary City, allowing all residents to access services

  • Declared "Welcome" to all new students who were Syrian refugees

  • An amendment to prevent low income families from paying additional fees for board run extended day coverage

  • Support of the OCDSB ratifying the United Nations International Decade of People of African Descent

  • Support of Rideau High School building becoming a Community Hub

  • Pushed back on budget cuts, reinvested in Special Education needs and front line positions
